January 7th 2025

Amy, Our Community Manager at Witney BIC Shares Her Top Wellness Tips

At Witney BIC, we’re passionate about fostering a supportive and thriving community, and that starts with taking care of ourselves. Our Community Manager is leading by example, focusing on wellness both personally and professionally. Here are her top tips for maintaining balance and staying motivated in 2025:

1. Plan Your Week Ahead

“At the end of every week, I take time to think about what I need to accomplish in the coming week. I prioritise my tasks and put them directly into my diary. This simple habit helps me de-clutter my mind by transferring the mental load into a structured plan. Plus, it’s nice to give my brain a break from its constant ‘to-do list.’”

Why It Works: Having everything planned means I can focus on executing rather than worrying. It makes me feel calmer and more in control, which is a major boost for my mental wellness. Plus, it helps me avoid that dreaded Sunday-night panic.

Pro Tip: Use colour coding or task categories to make your schedule visually appealing and easy to follow. Bonus points if you’re organised enough to actually remember what your colour codes mean.

2. Start with a Team Catch-Up

“I always kick off the week with a team catch-up. This meeting ensures everyone knows what they need to achieve, which keeps them motivated. It also gives me the opportunity to delegate tasks effectively, so I don’t end up overwhelmed.”

Why It Works: Delegation lightens my work load and creates a sense of shared purpose, which is great for morale—mine and theirs!

Team Tip: Encourage open communication during these meetings to identify challenges early and create a collaborative environment.

3. Take Full Breaks Every Day

“I make it a point to take my full break each day. Sometimes, I’ll watch my favourite program to relax, or I’ll go for a refreshing walk to clear my head. Taking a proper break boosts my energy and helps me return to work feeling recharged.”

Why It Works: Taking time to step away recharges my energy, clears mental fog, and helps me approach tasks with a fresh perspective. Plus, it’s an opportunity to enjoy something I love—a little treat for myself.

Self-Care Reminder: Protect your breaks as non-negotiable time for yourself – you’ve earned it!

4. Be Mindful of Screen Time

“In the evenings, I’m trying to be more mindful about how much time I spend on my phone. Instead, I focus on being present with the people around me. It’s so important to nurture real-life connections. Plus, Instagram will survive without me scrolling for one night… probably.”

Why It Works: Reducing screen time helps me wind down, sleep better, and be more present. It’s a simple way to improve my mental clarity and enjoy meaningful interactions with those I care about.

Digital Detox Tip: Set a ‘phone-free’ zone or time at home to help you unwind and be fully present.

5. Plan and Book Ahead

“I like to plan my year by booking events, holidays, and getaways. I have a camper van, and escaping into nature feels like hitting a reset button for my mind and body. Nothing like fresh air and a lack of Wi-Fi to put things in perspective.”

Why It Works: Having something to look forward to keeps me motivated and helps me push through challenges. Nature trips, in particular, are my go-to for recharging both physically and mentally – nothing beats that reset button.

Adventure Tip: Whether it’s a weekend trip or a longer holiday, having something to look forward to can keep you motivated all year long.

6. Engage in Meaningful Conversations

“I love having meaningful conversations with customers, family, and friends. These moments make me feel truly present and connected. It’s a simple yet powerful way to nurture relationships and stay grounded.”

Why It Works: Meaningful interactions give me a sense of purpose and connection, reminding me that we’re all in this together. It’s also incredibly fulfilling to make others feel heard and valued.

Connection Tip: Take time to ask open-ended questions and really listen to others. Genuine connections enrich both your personal and professional life.

These wellness strategies have helped our Community Manager stay balanced, motivated, and connected. Whether you’re a business owner, entrepreneur, or part of a busy team, these tips can inspire you to focus on your well-being too.
