More Than Office Space: The Lasting Impact of Witney BIC
By Amy Waller, Community Manager at Witney Business & Innovation Centre
When people ask me what Witney Business & Innovation Centre is all about, I tell them it’s more than just office space – it’s a place where businesses make real impact, and where people come to feel part of something bigger.
Since opening in 2012, we’ve had the privilege of supporting hundreds of businesses as they’ve grown, adapted, and created meaningful change. Some, like Visiba – who developed digital health tools for the NHS and SimCentric pioneers in defence simulation, used their time here as a launchpad to scale and extend their impact nationally and internationally. Though they’ve now graduated, their success stories reflect the kind of momentum we aim to foster.
Today, the impact continues through the work of current businesses doing incredible things in their own fields. Oxford Garden Design brings outdoor spaces to life, creating beautiful, award-winning gardens that have a real and lasting effect on the homes and communities they touch. Golden Atara Healthcare and Cherry Care Services Oxfordshire Ltd offer care that transforms lives – providing essential, compassionate support that helps people live independently and with dignity. That’s the kind of human impact that goes beyond business.
Other companies are shaping industries behind the scenes. Fundamental Design UK Ltd works on critical engineering and electromagnetic challenges for transport infrastructure – ensuring safety and reliability in projects that affect millions. MEICA Technical Services Ltd delivers technical expertise across sectors like water and energy, supporting the systems we all rely on every day.
Then there are those expanding the reach of local businesses, like Elite Exports Solutions Ltd, helping organisations grow beyond the UK by guiding them through the complexities of international trade. Meanwhile, Focus Group plays a key role in keeping businesses connected and secure, with award-winning IT and telecoms services that support smooth operations and strong digital infrastructure.
What unites all these companies is their clear sense of purpose – and their desire to make a positive impact through their work. Whether it’s supporting wellbeing, driving innovation, or connecting people and ideas, they contribute to something greater than the sum of their parts. And that’s the kind of community we’re proud to nurture here.
But Witney BIC isn’t only about what happens inside the offices. Our wider impact stretches into the local community too. Over the years, we’ve donated to local causes, collected for food banks, raised funds for mental health charities, and supported wellbeing initiatives – because we believe our role as a business centre goes beyond the businesses themselves.
At the heart of it all is connection. From spontaneous chats in the Business Lounge to long-term partnerships formed at events, the relationships built here often lead to collaboration and growth. That human connection is what makes the most lasting impact.
With flexible spaces to suit everyone – from solo founders to growing teams – we’re here to help businesses thrive and leave their mark. And as we look to the future, we’re excited to keep building on the positive impact we’ve already made on local businesses, on individuals, and on the wider Witney community.
If you’re looking for more than just a place to work, come and see what we’re about. I’d love to show you how we can help you make your own kind of impact.
