The Why of Witney BIC: Hot Chocolate Edition
If you happened to walk into Witney Business & Innovation Centre today, you might have been greeted by the sweet aroma of chocolate and the sight of a very determined Community Manager, sleeves rolled up, marshmallows at the ready. That’s Amy Waller – our Community Manager, on this particular day, barista extraordinaire.
Her mission? To make hot chocolates for the businesses that call Witney BIC home. And no, she’s not opening a café (though after today, she probably could). So why would someone voluntarily take on such a task of making 42 hot chocolates? The answer is simple: because Amy and the team genuinely care about the people in this building.
At Witney BIC, we believe that business isn’t just about desks, Wi-Fi, and meeting rooms. It’s about people – real people with big ideas, ambitious goals, and sometimes, a need for a little warmth and kindness to get through the day. And what better way to deliver that than with a steaming cup of hot chocolate topped with marshmallows?
Was it chaotic? Absolutely. Did Amy lose count halfway through? Quite possibly. Did she briefly consider installing a chocolate fountain in reception? Let’s just say the idea isn’t entirely off the table.
But here’s the thing: this isn’t just about hot chocolate. It’s about the why behind Witney BIC. Our centre exists to do more than provide office space – it’s here to create a community. A place where businesses don’t just work side by side, but grow together. Where conversations spark ideas, collaborations happen over coffee (or cocoa), and where every person who walks through the door feels like they belong.
Amy puts it best:
“We’re not just building businesses – we’re building a community. And if that means perfecting my hot chocolate-making skills along the way, then so be it.”
This philosophy runs through everything we do. From networking breakfasts and workshops to those small, thoughtful gestures that make people smile, our goal is always the same: to make Witney BIC a place where businesses thrive because people feel connected and supported.
So, whether it’s a cup of cocoa on a frosty morning, a friendly chat in the hallway, or an introduction that leads to your next big opportunity, Witney BIC is here for it all. Because at the heart of everything we do is one simple truth: community matters.
And if you’re wondering what’s next after 42 hot chocolates? Well, let’s just say Amy has a few ideas brewing.
